Ideals (November 20, 2001)

I'm a forgiving person.

At least, I think I am.

I always try to look for the good in people and what their intentions are in their actions. That's the main way I've been able to make so many friends; even if they had hurt me in the past, most have totally changed their ways. Everyone deserves the chance to become a better person. And as far as murder is concerned... I've really been against it. I hate death in all forms. I have never seen someone die peacefully. There is always pain and sadness, and those are the last things souls take with them to the Afterlife or when they're stuck here. That's why I don't even like to think about it! It scares me, and it gets me upset that people suffer like that!

I know many of my friends have killed people in the past, but like I said, I don't hold it against them.

Strange Delivery (November 17, 2001)

I woke up while it was still dark out this morning. I haven't been sleeping well since Jonouchi-kun was captured. Kuso! It's been a week since he was taken by Brownstone! We still aren't much closer to finding him. We have no clues as to where he was taken. At least we're fairly certain that Combs has him; no comfort in that thought.

It sucks that everyone at school has been spreading rumors about him. It's no secret anymore that Hirutani was beaten up within an inch of his life. A lot of the rumors say that Jonouchi tried to kill him, and he's now hiding out from the cops. There's no way to prove this, since Jonouchi hadn't even been seen around that gang in years!

Honda-kun has stuck around in the apartment. He's been doing his own investigation using whatever contacts his father has. Honda-kun has to be careful not to point the blame at BS himself, or he'll become a target, too.

((Fanfic-style; third person POV))

Yugi looked up at the public middle school. He had never been here before; this had the lowest tuition rate in the city, and quite possibly one of the worst reputations. Yugi shuddered to think what would have happened to a kid like him had he come here!

'I'd've never met Anzu, so I might've been dead by now!'

Naoki-kun...Collapse )

((I haven't had much inspiration for Yugi or Yami's POV entries lately, so I thought I'd just have a bit of fun with Shiny! Peachshipping fun! XD Enjoy the fluff!))

A couple of days after Yami left to fight Brownstone, Yugi decided to take a break from his schoolwork to focus on things he had not devoted his full attention to, namely Anzu. Up until a month before, he had been a very devoted, supportive boyfriend. Anzu needed the release of stress in her life; now that her application had been sent out to Juliard, it was only a matter of time before she got the letter requesting for a face-to-face interview.

This didn't bug him as much as it had now that he had his little secret. He was still going to wait until Christmas to tell her, though.

Ever since Yami's return, he had spent much of his free time talking to his old friend, trying to catch him up on everything! Even if Yami did not talk about his backstory, Yugi was thrilled to have his other self back! And Yami was just as patient and supportive as ever!

Now that Yami was out of the picture again, Yugi had some time to reflect. He realized how little time he had spent with Anzu in lieu of talking with Yami. Anzu understood why, of course, but that didn't excuse him from ignoring her! Embarrassed and ashamed, he invited Anzu to spend the night at his home to watch whatever movies she wanted.

Yami's Gone! (November 5th)

I must have pushed him way too much. I probably should have held off on forcing him to work with Siegfried or something! Dammit!

Yami was staying with me for the night. He has been up late working on plans for I2 the past week, so just hanging out at my house was supposed to give him a break. Thanks to Amelda, we have all the information we need to attack some of the locations with less risk. Adding Siegfried to the mix has been a real benefit!

Yami's back! Yami's back! YAMI'S BACK!!!

I still can't get over it!! Mou hitori no boku is back to stay! I told Kaasan and Jiichan all about it, and they were more than happy to hold a party to welcome him back.

I couldn't sleep last night! I wanted to just go over to Jonouchi-kun's to make sure I wasn't dreaming! I spent two hours talking to him telepathically. We still can't figure out why that still works! He's not possessing me anymore. The best we can think of is that its part of my abilities as a medium. I don't know. And I don't care!

I saw Kaiba when I got to school. He's still avoiding us. Well, he knows that last night was the Brownstone ball. I wonder if he heard that the building was destroyed and that his company might be a little safer for it. Would he suspect me and Jonouchi-kun for being part of it? I wonder how he'd react if he new Amelda was involved!

He hangs around the library before school and during lunch. I'll try talking to him. Maybe I can convince him to come to the party.

Uneasing Into October

October is the month all Japanese seniors fear: The start of placement and college entrance exams. All colleges require at least one form of examination as part of the application process.  Teachers have been drilling us for the past two years on how to take these exams, which can include everything from multiple choice and short answer tests to essays and interviews. Standards are generally very high in all colleges. Luckily, the majority of the tests for Japanese universities end in March, so those focused on Tokyo University or Kentou University have some breathing room. Most universities from countries outside of Japan also require a number of exams (and a mountain of paperwork) in order to be admitted. For some reason, American universities' applications generally must be submitted before December.

"The Loadstone Rock" (early August)

It’s been a while since the Birdman struck. This time, he destroyed a pharmaceutical company in South Africa. People saw him up close this time. A lot of people described him as a monster. Some thought he was just a man in a costume. Some said that he attacked them, and others said that he saved them. Most of the newspapers are condemning him as a terrorist. I’ve only read a couple of reports online that he’s a hero; the latter include interviews with the survivors of the explosion.

Varon's article came out in Japan the other day, along with the pictures of what happened between Birdman and Cuddy. That guy is really something else! Talk about one hell of an expose’! It's amazing that he has gotten that involved.

All those people, suffering and dying for the sake of science… It’s scary what people are capable of doing to each other! Just the thought of it freaks me out!

I have to try to put this out of my mind. I have enough to think about!

School starts up again soon. I finished my remedial courses except for one. I still need another semester’s worth of Literature to finish up. Remedial students even had extra reading to do over the summer: Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein. It’s funny that I’ve seen a lot of the movies based off of the book, but the real book is actually very different. Victor’s fiancé died halfway through the book, and the Bride of Frankenstein – or the monster’s bride – was built and destroyed in the first story!

Maybe I watch too much TV.

Jonouchi-kun and Seiko are officially a couple! Anzu and I double-dated with them a couple of weeks ago when we went to Domino Waterpark. Everyone really had a great time! Seiko is very sweet, beautiful, and she is already seems to trust us a bit. :) Jonouchi is happier than he's been in a long while, too! I'm glad that they met!

((OOC Notes - This entry takes place after Varon's article is published. I know that it will be posted soon, but I wanted to get started on some of the other events which take place at this time. For references as to what Varon's article is going to be about, please see Yami's previous entry. As for the title, a loadstone rock is a rock that consists of magnetite is naturally magnetic. The title is mine, not Yugi's; this marks the start of Yugi being drawn back to Yami and a life of adventuring.))

Family Meeting

((ooc: Ever feel like your characters know more than you do? I didn't expect to fall into this side story. I wasn't sure where I was going at first when I had Yugi and his mom fighting. The reasons came to me as I was rereading some of the past entries. I hope this explanation makes sense. Since I'm writing in Yugi's style, I have to hold back on details.))

I finally talked to my mom. I waited until after dinner last night, as she was cleaning up. I helped her and started cleaning the dishes with her. There was this uncomfortable silence at first. Then she started crying. I asked her if she was okay, and she said something like, "You really are a good son."

Things kind of went from there. Eventually we moved our talk to the dining room, where Jiichan joined us.

Codes of Conduct

Everyone, I have been officially labeled a delinquent.
For those who do not know much about public Japanese schools, we are taught from a young age the codes of conduct befitting young men and women of society. Students have a long list of "Do's" and "Don'ts." We have curfews, dress codes, and certain codes of conduct that must be followed on and off campus. Among the "don'ts," having a boyfriend or girlfriend is at the top of the list. That's why we do not have school socials or other fun stuff I've read about from other countries. The reasoning behind this is that, without relationships, we can concentrate on our studies.
